Warning: Update Google Chrome to be safe

The security advisory states that the update patches CVE-2024-4671, a vulnerability that could allow remote attackers to escape the browser’s sandbox via specially crafted web pages. Another complex vulnerability, CVE-2024-4761, involves an out-of-bounds write in Google’s V8 JavaScript engine, which crafted web pages can exploit.

Keeping Chrome updated is critical to effectively mitigating these security threats. We recommend that you protect against security threats by updating Chrome to version 124.0.6367.207 or later in Settings > About Chrome and relaunching the browser if an update is available.

Another advisory noted that recently, Google rolled out Android security updates through the Google Play Protect service for June 2024, addressing 37 vulnerabilities. These updates are in the form of two Security Patch Levels (SPLs) namely 2024-06-01 (SPL) to address 19 vulnerabilities in framework and system components and 2024-06-05 (SPL) to address 18 vulnerabilities. Developed to do, Imagination Technologies, Arms, MediaTek, and Qualcomm Components.

Additionally, WearOS received patches for 3 vulnerabilities on 2024-06-01 (SPL), while Android AutomotiveOS (AAOS) included fixes on 2024-06-05 (SPL). In view of these, all Android users are advised to enable the Google Play Protect service to receive notifications for the latest updates and ensure that devices are running on the latest security patch levels.
