Users may now send voice messages to WhatsApp’s AI chatbot, Meta AI, thanks to a new feature that the chatbot is now testing.
A limited number of beta testers are presently receiving access to this feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10, according to WABetaInfo.
Voice communications will, however, receive a text response from the AI.
A new voice message icon will appear next to the text field in the Meta AI chat interface for beta testers who have signed up for the Google Play Beta program.
It is anticipated that this addition will benefit users who would rather speak than type.
In the past, Meta AI was well-known for its multimodal powers, which included creating images. This new function is the company’s first attempt at audio processing.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is developing a feature that lets users double-tap messages to respond to them quickly—akin to Facebook and Instagram.
By default, this operation will add an emoji of a heart. There is no set date for the public release of this feature, which is likewise in beta.
