How to Take a Screenshot on Google Pixel 9 (with scrolling screenshot)

Google’s newest flagship series, the Pixel 9, is now available with significant enhancements. The four devices in the series are the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

If you own a Pixel 9 phone, you’re in luck and would like to take screenshots with it. You can find out how to screenshot a Pixel 9 here. All Pixel 9 models can be used with the techniques I’ll be sharing with you here.

For everyone with a smartphone, the ability to take screenshots is essential. Screenshots of pages with useful information, amusing memes, inaccessible photographs, and more can be taken. It is a crucial component regardless of the industry you operate in.

You might not be aware of all the options to snap screenshots on the Pixel 9, especially if you’re a new user. I will outline several techniques in this article for you to use. It’s crucial to be aware of several ways to take screenshots with the Pixel 9 so that you have options in case one approach doesn’t work.

How to Screenshot on Pixel 9

I will list every approach that is feasible below. Remember at least two methods that you find simple. Let’s begin with the initial approach.

Using physical buttons, take a screenshot

There are physical buttons on every smartphone, mostly for the power and volume buttons. Additionally, you can rapidly take screenshots by utilizing these buttons. This is how Google Pixel users can use it:

  1. First, go to the page you want to capture in a screenshot.
  2. Now hold the Power and Volume down keys together.
  3. It will take a screenshot, which you can immediately edit, share or delete.

It will be stored in the Screenshot folder, that you can see in Gallery.

Google Pixel phone comes with back tap gesture support. Back tap gesture is quite popular for capturing screenshots, but you need to assign the function manually as this is not set by default. Here’s how to do it.

  1. On your phone, navigate to Settings > System > Gestures.

  3. Here turn on the toggle to enable Quick Tap. And select Screenshot option.

  4. Now open the page you want to capture and double-tap on the back of the phone and it will capture the screenshot.

You need to get used to how much pressure you need to apply during the back tap.

For users with foldable phone, this can be an the best method as taking screenshot with physical button folds the device sometimes. Here’s how to screenshot on Pixel 9 using recent apps window.

  1. First, open the page/app you want to capture on screenshot.
  2. Next, open the recent apps screen by swiping from bottom to the middle screen or use recent app button if you are not using gestures.
  3. In the recent apps, you will see the Screenshot option below your page, tap on it.
  4. It will capture the screenshot immediately and give you a preview at the bottom.

Ask Google Gemini to Take a Screenshot

Pixel 9 series is powered by the Gemini AI model. And you can do a lot of things with Gemini including capturing a screenshot. It is a Google Assistant on steroids.

Make sure the Gemini app is setup.

  1. Open the page or app you want to capture.
  2. Launch Google Gemini with a swipe up from the bottom corner or long-pressing the side key.
  3. After launching Gemini, say take a screenshot or capture screenshot.
  4. It will capture the screenshot and you will see a green check mark.

You will find the screenshot in the same Screenshot folder.

How to Take a Scrolling Screenshot on Pixel 9

If you want to a scrolling screenshot on your Pixel 9, you can follow this method. Scrolling screenshot also known as long screenshot let you capture the part that is not visible on a single page. Let’s say you have a long list of groceries that you want to capture in a single screenshot but only a few are visible on the screen, in this case, you can take a scrolling screenshot.

  1. First, go to the page or app you want to capture.
  2. Take the screenshot using one of the first three methods. You will see the screenshot preview at the bottom corner with options like share, edit, etc. Google assistant/Gemini method doesn’t show preview.
  3. Tap on Capture More button.

  4. It will give you crop like frame that you can drag to the point you want to capture in screenshot.

  5. Then tap Save and the long screenshot will be saved in the Screenshot folder.

Note: Some apps or page does not support long screenshot. The capture more button will not appear if an app/page doesn’t support long format screenshot.
